My grandparents were staying this week at mom's,
so they came over Wednesday night for a snack....

How many countless times did Grandad read books
to me on their many visits to our home?
Now it looks like he still isn't through with that tradition yet!

That kid gets a lot of mileage out of his cuts and bruises!

Morgan would touch Ethan's hair and just cackle...
...she did this for at least 5 minutes...

As I was preparing Ethan for the Fourth of July, I was singing a song to him about the men who died for our freedom and then it goes on to say that Jesus died for us so that we can be (spiritually) free. I explained this to him- about how if we ask Jesus into our hearts then we can go and live in Heaven with Him. Ethan looks back at me with this wide-eyed expression of excitement and said, "Thank you, Santa!" He picked this up somewhere :-) and was just using it as an expression!
Anyway, I asked him who we should thank because Jesus died on the cross for us. After a pause, he said, "God." Whew!

While at a Fish Fry, I had a fabulous baby-sitter...
Morgan was so content with her and took a nice nap...made for a nice evening for me!
Someone brought their dog and Ethan enjoyed petting him/her :-)

Hopping Around

Grateful for these feet!
(explained below)

Ethan asked me, "Why do we have to have feet?"
I calmly replied, "How would you get around?"
His reply, "We could just hop!" He then proceeds to hop on his knees.
I questioned back, "What would we hop around on if we didn't have our feet OR knees?"
"Well," he said, "we would be like Veggie Tales."
To which I reply, "They just have bottoms."
So he tries to hop on his bottom.
"Hard, huh?" I asked him.
-- I do believe after trying out hopping on his bottom that he is grateful for his feet!

I am trying to teach Ethan some things, and by some of his replies, I know he is not the least bit interested. It is a learning game that can be done anytime, while on the road, eating, or playing, etc. Anyway, here are a couple of comments that left me with the realization that he doesn't care for learning right now! --

After playing a few minutes - "Can we be done now?"

Sitting at the dinner table he calmly asked me - "Can I please finish my lunch?"

Killer headache for me today (gone now!), so Shawn got lunch for the boys and as he was hurrying out the door he told Ethan to pray for mommy to get feeling better. Ethan said, "I don't want to pray too much!" -- I did hear him a few minutes later praying for me....probably because daddy said if he prayed and mommy got better she might take him outside!

Landon had his second nose bleed in less than 24 hours. He would throw up blood and whatever he had for the last meal he had just consumed, so today, here I am gagging along with him while trying to clean up. I was scared because he kept throwing up blood.
As you know, Landon says very little, but today he said a lot with only one word. While blood is pouring down his face, he asks, "Die?" Talk about scaring a mommy!

My own father helped lead me in the right direction by making certain guidelines for me as I was growing up and I am so thankful for this...I see it so clearly now that I am "on the other side of things"!

The bold, green words above were penned by Steve Chapman...Another lady and I sang this song Sunday morning. It was chocked full of instruction for fathers and also reminders of the great responsibility and privilege we have to take care of children and to train them.

Silly daddy ....he knows how to have fun! That's what makes him a great daddy!
