Drains, Walls & Cement

Laying the pipe....

To "fill/smooth in" the basement floor with gravel they dropped Shawn's tractor down.

The basement walls were on the agenda for this week. The guys came yesterday to start the process...Just one truck load of cement to pour the footers (a couple of weeks ago), but a total of five came to pour the walls...

It is looking good! Do they use Superior walls out your way? They seem to be taking over poured walls in our area. They come ready to hang drywall with holes already formed in the concrete, and insulation built in. A family that attends our church has a business that builds homes in their plant and then assembles them on site. They have gone to the Superior because of the quickness of the wall being installed. In a half a day the walls are installed and ready to pur concrete for the floor. The cost is equal to that of blocks, so most choose the premanufactured wall. http://www.superiorwalls.com/

Enjoying the updates.....

It's so fun watching the progress! Since we've been through the WHOLE process ourselves, I find every step of it interesting! (Especially since we also did most of the work!) I got quite tickled at the picture of the tractor being "lowered". I'm sure it was a huge time-saver down there though!

Responding to the Gurnee's comment: Thanks for the idea! My husband hasn't heard of this yet...he thought he might do some checking to see if there was anything like what you mentioned around here.
